Aloe vera (also known as Aloe Barbadensis) is a flowering succulent plant of the Asphodelaceae family, native of the African continent.
This plant with fleshy leaves, although it is made up of about 95% of water, contains a gel with extraordinary properties containing 200 active compounds and over 75 nutrients. Known for its medicinal properties for millennia, aloe vera is mentioned in the 'Old Testament', in the Gospels and in ancient documents that handed down its "miraculous use" to Egyptians, Chineses, Indians and the Arab peoples.
Aloe vera is today at the top of the global preferences among plant-based food supplements in Italy.
