IN COSMETIC

Thanks to its soothing, decongestant and toning properties for circulation, horse chestnut is used in topical preparations for heavy legs, capillary fragility, cellulite blemishes and stagnation of liquids.

GENERAL INFO, HISTORICAL NOTES, CURIOSITIES

The horse chestnut is a plant native to Eastern Europe and born between the Balkan peninsula and the Caucasus. Its first 'official' appearance in Western Europe took place in 1591, when Charles de l'Ecluse, a well-known French botanist, introduced it to Vienna as an ornamental plant. The horse chestnut then arrived in Paris in 1615 and then spread to the rest of Europe.
According to tradition, the fruits of this shrub would keep seasonal ailments away.
Today the most famous horse chestnut is the one found in Amsterdam and that Anne Frank was contemplating from her window in the secret annex.
